CHILD & FAMILY CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
"I approached Lana because my daughter was suffering from extreme anxiety. Lana is a calm and caring person who connected with my daughter instantly. Since working with Lana, in 1 to 1 therapy sessions, she has come so far and is a changed person. Her anxiety has decreased and she is the happy carefree child that she once was. The experience was well worth it" (Anonymous, Parent).
"Lana is really kind, and she helped me with my worries" (Anonymous, 10yr old).
"The sessions with Lana have made such a huge difference to us all as a family. Lana found a creative way to help our son to talk about his anxieties and gave us strategies so we could problem solve together. His anxiety and anger outbursts have reduced significantly and we are now able to do things as a family that we just could not do a few months ago. I highly recommend Lana" (Anonymous, Parent).
"Lana is very easy to talk to. She made me feel at ease and really helped me to understand myself and my emotions. I now feel more in control and more accepting of myself" (Anonymous, 16yr old).
"Lana's support made an enormous difference both to my son and myself - her expertise, kindness and responsive way of working was invaluable to us at a very difficult time. A huge and heartfelt thank you" (Anonymous, Parent)
MINDFUL YOGA THERAPY
"I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and a Clinical Psychologist in training with a particular interest in trauma and PTSD. I attended 6 sessions of yoga therapy with Lana and found these helpful and inspiring both personally and professionally. She is a skilled, warm, generous, and knowledgable practitioner whose commitment and compassion shines through. It was a privilege to work with her and I learned so much; I am a better therapist for having worked with her. She has taught me to think about the importance of the body in psychological work, and of regaining trust in our bodies after trauma. I am now recommending her to all my clients and friends, as I believe she offers an incredibly powerful and healing approach for people who are suffering with anxiety, trauma, depression, or who just feel that something is missing in their lives", (Fiona MacLeod, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist).
"The yoga & mindfulness session with Lana was really helpful and very relaxing. I found the sound of her voice perfect for guiding my busy mind back to my breathing and the techniques that she showed me completely suitable for the personal stresses I focus on overcoming. Doing the session with Lana helped me to understand more about me and my body", (Laura Vane, Singer Songwriter).
"I had miscarried a few months prior to seeing Lana and felt as though I had lost everything, including myself. Although it was hard at times, the course of yoga therapy was overall an amazing experience because it was part of a longer journey to connect back to myself and my body. She tailored the yoga based on what I brought to each session, and really worked with me on what I was experiencing at the time, with the various poses and breaths. As a result of this I felt that the yoga really stayed with me on an emotional and spiritual level, and I now practice yoga at home around three times a week. My practice is varied and flexible as I (mostly!) have intuition and insight into what I need. My sessions have been so beneficial and literally life-changing. It's not about always feeling zen, or being able to be on form all the time - it's about having the tools to work with what you've got, and using them in a way that works for you. Lana is able to pass on and demonstrate those tools in a very grounded, enthusiastic and personal way, in a truly safe environment, and you really feel like she is able to hold, work and empathise with whatever you bring. I am profoundly grateful to Lana for her teaching, and for her helping me turn something so devastating into something I can physically work through and stay with", (One-to-one Yoga Therapy Client, Anonymous).
"I have a history of complex trauma and struggle with dissociation and emotion regulation. Before I started seeing Lana my relationships and working life were really suffering, as I could not manage the dissociation, anger, grief, fear, and terror. I had tried mindfulness but found that it would lead me to slip into dissociative states: it was too terrifying and unmanageable for me, and overwhelming to sit with my feelings or be in touch with my body. I hated my body and tried to anaesthetise it with alcohol and binge eating, or self-harm - anything to avoid my feelings. The sessions of yoga therapy with Lana were literally life changing for me, and I can never thank her enough for what she has taught me. She offered me compassion, kindness and a non-judgmental acceptance when I was experiencing a horrific loss, a safe place to cry, and healing practices that calmed and nurtured me. She gave me back hope and a sense of control over the intolerable feelings and dissociation. She was steadfastly warm, generous and trustworthy, and therapy with her had so many thoughtful little touches. She taught me the meaning of poses, of the warrior stance, and shared with me beautiful and inspiring poetry and stories: The yoga practices she gave me focused on strengthening and healing, and she helped me to rediscover my own strength, to let go of loss and to begin to heal. I cannot convey what it has meant to me to be able to feel my own strength again and to have practices I can use when the world feels overwhelming. I am stronger, healthier and happier because of what she has taught me. I have worked hard to utilise what she has given me and I will take it forward. I would strongly recommend anyone with a trauma history to work with Lana: she has changed my life. I have hope for a different future, and I have never had that before", (One-to-One Yoga Therapy Client, Anonymous).
TRAINING
"I would like to thank you for leading such an wonderful training day. It was such a privilege to work with you & such a lovely group & to really explore the benefits of mindfulness for young people. You have an empathic and genuine way that was much appreciated. Your explanations brought the knowledge home in a really enjoyable way. In addition I thought the handouts and audio materials were excellent. You are a great and inspirational teacher and I will be recommending your course to my friends and colleagues." (Social Work Resource Officer, Brighton)
"Thanks for stimulating both interest and meditative calm and focus. I thought the strengths of the training was that it was experiential (learning through experience). I also valued the discussions re application in practice and research underpinnings. The evidence for me was my actual experience of practising mindfulness which was inspiring and enlightening. I thought you brought personality and warmth and encouraged a spirit of dialogue and enquiry which facilitated intelligent dialogue. Thanks very much." (Clinical Nurse Specialist, CAMHS, London)
